video game console, home theater systemI am helping my husband raise my three step-grandchildren as though they were my own kids, which it feels as though they are. I am raising these kids because their mother has issues with addiction and various mental health problems. Because we are raising his grandchildren my husband and I do not go very far unless the kids are with us. Some of my friends and family members wonder how I could make such a sacrifice but I don’t actually see myself as having given anything up. First of all I see having three wonderful children in my life as a blessing. Second of all we have everything we need at home to keep from ever getting bored. We have half an acre of property and an in-ground swimming pool to swim in during the summer. We have two dogs and a cat to amuse us. We also have all we desire in terms of entertainment technology. We have a Blu-Ray DVD home theater system. We have five video game consoles at home. We have two PS3 video game consoles and each of the kids has their own Nintendo DS Lite. We also have three LCD HDTVs, three laptop computers and a desktop PC. If I get sick of playing video game console games or watching movies via our DVD home theater system then I have a mountain of unread novels to get through. I also work from home as and when it suits me. I am definitely not bored staying home with three kids. We usually have a blast together.
