video game console, home theater systemThere is a moment in gaming where a person almost goes into a zombie state and just starts letting loose without even thinking about what they are doing. This occurs after serious hours on a single video game console title. It occurs after muscle memory has taken over. For instance, last night a friend was playing a favorite first person shooter but at my house and could not stop hitting the reload button even after I told him the specific machine gun he was sporting was a long single clip. His muscle memory was telling him to reload after every burst of ammo as a defense mechanism to never get caught at the end of the digital clip. I told him over and over to stop doing it but he couldn’t. His body had taken command.

Sometimes when this happens, we play at almost super human levels. This happened to me on that same shooter. Normally in these games, you take out a few enemies before someone gets you and then it happens all over again. This time it was like I couldn’t get hit. As the home theater system exploded with sound, my excitement for such a performance did too. The thing is the DVD home theater was so loud it muted out my yells of video game console joy. I ended 47-12.
