video game console

Every year someone in our family always hosts the annual New Year Eve bash. It seems that every year someone always pops up early in the season before I've even started thinking about Christmas, much less New Years and offers to host the party. This has meant that my husband and I haven't hosted one of the New Years Eve parties yet. This year we made our move early to offer to have the New Years Eve bash at our place. We explained to everyone that it was going to be a little less traditional, as we will be making use of our favorite video game console and providing hours of entertainment for everyone.

My mother was not overly thrilled at the words video game console, and was even less so when I wouldn't tell her exactly what it was we were going to do with the video game console, but only that it would be fun. My mother loves to have a good time as much as the next person, but her idea of fun and the rest of our idea of fun is vast. Hers definitely doesn't include a video game console, but I think when she sees what we have in mind, she'll change her mind about the video game console and join in the fun, especially once I tell my sisters children to bug her until she participates. She may be able to say no to me, but she can't say no to the grandchildren.

The idea is pretty simple, but I know it will guarantee hours of fun with the video game console and help make the evening a success. I ordered the Wii Music - Wii from Northern Lites who can be found online at http://www.northernlites.com/. This little game is going to turn our favorite video game console into a music-making machine! I know the kids will love it, and I think I'll set up a camcorder so that we can record ourselves while playing with the video game console to play back later in the year when we need a laugh.

Usually our New Years Eve parties with family are pretty mild. We eat a lot, sit around talking and sometimes we play games, but never with a video game console. I have a feeling that things are going to get pretty lively that evening and I can't wait to see mom’s reaction when she sees what we're going to do.
