<--What Will the Future Hold?
When the video game console first came out back in the 80’s people used them primarily for fun. One could argue that excessive play could lead to faster hand eye coordination. Today, the video game console is more then just a place to have cheap fun. Gamers learn history during in-game stories, understand how cars work with racing games, how to cook with titles on the Nintendo DS Lite and random trivia with quiz games. There are more than a handful of games just for growing brain capacity.
I read an article today in USA Today, about when video game console graphics will look 100 percent humanlike. The founder of Epic Games, responsible for titles like the Gears of War franchise is projecting these kind of graphics in 10-15 years. When gaming gets to that point schools, government and trainers will use video games exclusively to get a message across. There will be a shift from fun to education. The fun will still be there but gamers will benefit from more than a couple hours of pounding buttons. By then all ages will play video games.
