These days whenever I read the back of the popular next generation video games that are currently available on the best video game consoles on the market, they always note that they are best experienced when played on a surround sound home theater system. Unlike video game consoles of the past, which were primarily used on stereo tube television sets, the video game consoles of today are actually optimized for surround sound. This actually means that the makers of the games must design the audio so that it will be dispersed equally on a surround sound speaker system. So with this in mind, the designers actually had to program different sounds to be sent to different speakers, which in my mind means that when you attach a video game console to a surround sound speaker system, you are actually getting the most out of that console. Case and point: I have played for years my video game console on an older TV. Recently I bought a new home theater system and hooked it up to that. I don’t think that I can go back ever. The games come so much more to life with surround sound, like you are really in the game.
