Many people that I have met who own Wii Nintendo consoles are entirely unaware that they can actually use them to power their home theater system. By this notion I mean that you can substitute the DVD player in your home theater system with a Wii. The Wii – like many other of the next generation video game consoles of today – has a built in DVD player that allows for some really nice DVD playback. While it is not a high definition player, so if you are nuts about high definition it won’t do the trick – for most people all they want is a DVD player. You already spent the money on the Wii, so why not enjoy the DVD player that comes with it? This is the notion that I have taken to when my last DVD player finally bit the dust, and I was faced with having to drop some bucks on a new one. Wrong, I decided that I would simply use my Wii. So I easily hooked it up to the home theater receiver in my house and have been enjoying watching movies on it ever since. Turns out the Wii has awesome games and also plays DVDs, who knew?
