home theater system A home theater system done right can turn any room into a mini-theater. Surround sound intensifies background noise, sound effects and my favorite video games. The first step of setting up an optimal home theater system is the product itself. Overkill is never a bad idea but an underpowered system will be a waste of money. You can always turn a powerful system down but you can’t make a weak system sound good.

After purchasing and setting up a home theater system do not turn the speakers and sub to max levels.
Surround sound speakers should not pop out when listening. A speaker on the left and right side of a couch should not overpower the rest. When done correctly a listener will not be able to decipher where the sound is coming from. Surround speakers are for ambient noises.

When setting up an LCD or projector never set the screen to max brightness because the bulb will burn out quickly. Lower the brightness and contrast for best results. I will give more home theater system tips in the next post.
